How it works
What is an active employee?
An employee is active in a month if they clock in or out, are on a published schedule for a day that has passed, or sign a document. Each active employee counts once per month, no matter how many of these they do. Each new hire you make through August ATS also counts toward that month's usage. Employees who are not active are not counted towards your bill and can use all other features.
15 usage included every month
Your first 15 active employees or August ATS hires each month are included in your plan at no extra charge. This lets you use August during your off-season or for small events without worrying about usage fees.
Built for seasonal businesses
If you have 100 employees on your roster but only 60 work in a given month, you pay for just 45 employees, because the first 15 are always included. That keeps costs aligned with your busiest months.

How much does August cost?
August costs $400 per year for the platform plus $3 per month for each active employee or August ATS hire beyond the 15 included every month.
What counts as an active employee?

Can you give me a pricing example?
Say you have 100 employees on your roster and 60 work in October. You pay for 45 of them, because the first 15 are included, so October's usage fee is $135. In a quiet month with 15 or fewer active employees, the usage fee is $0.

Do background checks cost extra?
Yes. Background checks are an optional add-on through our partner TopChecked, which bills you directly per check.
What if I need more text messages?
Your platform fee includes 15,000 SMS credits per year. You can buy additional 10,000-credit packs from your billing settings.
How do I pay?
You pay the annual platform fee by card when you create your account online. Usage is billed based on your monthly active employees and August ATS hires, and you can manage your payment method and invoices in your billing settings.
