Scheduling questions
How do employees see their schedule?
When you publish a schedule, employees are notified and can see their shifts in the August Mobile app. You can also share a read-only link to a schedule, print it or export it to Excel.
Can employees submit their availability?
Yes. Employees submit weekly availability in the app, and you can request or remind them to update it. You control when availability can be edited, and they can submit time off requests within the window you set.
How does shift pickup work?
You post open shifts and employees express interest in the app. In pooled mode, an admin chooses from the interested employees. In first-to-claim mode, the first employee to claim the shift gets it. You can choose a default and override it per shift.
Can employees swap shifts?
Yes. If you enable shift swapping, an employee can request a swap with a coworker, the coworker accepts, and a manager approves. August warns you if the swap creates a conflict.
Can I reuse last week's schedule?
Yes. Copy any schedule into a new date range, with or without the same employees assigned.
Does August send shift reminders?
Yes. You can turn on push notification reminders that go out about an hour before each shift, and employees are notified when a published shift they're on changes.
